About Mechsol Ltd

The company is owned and run by managing director Tom Burman, an engineer with 19 years’ experience supporting major manufacturers. As a former Ulma field engineer, Tom spent many years servicing, maintaining and optimising production lines and packaging machinery for many of the UK’s largest food producers.

As a young boy Tom was fascinated by anything mechanical and would spend hours taking bicycles, lawnmowers, car engines and just about anything with moving parts to bits before expertly rebuilding it which inevitably led to a career in Engineering.

Tom also discovered welding at an early age and quickly became a highly proficient at Mig and Tig welding, creating car and aeroplane models in his spare time. He admits that he is something of a perfectionist and believes that it is worth going the extra mile to ensure that the job is done properly.

After completing an apprenticeship as a fitter and welder, Tom embarked on a career as a service engineer working on production lines for large food production machinery brands. While he enjoyed the work and loved the challenge of diagnosing problems and finding solutions, he felt that there was an opportunity to offer a better service to customers. This belief led Tom to start his own engineering company, Mechsol.  The core focus for Mechsol is still food producers, but the company now also supports agricultural and horticultural businesses and offers specialist welding and small batch production services.
